Introducing Michigan Educational Credit Union
Originally known as Wayne Out County Teachers Credit Union, Michigan Educational Credit Union (MECU) formed in 1942 when 28 teachers and educational employees pooled together $170 in assets. Today, we are nearly 50,000 members strong, with assets exceeding $600 million.
MECU is a non-profit financial cooperative that is owned and operated by its members. The Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers who are elected by the Credit Union's members. Because MECU's primary goal is to help members, not to generate a profit, our members typically enjoy better rates and more affordable services than you'll find at other financial institutions.
